Kenny Strauss

My wine career began at a young age, assisting with a family friend's home winemaking project. Inspired by this experience, I pursued a degree in enology at Cal Poly, and the rest is history. During my time at Cal Poly, I worked for Kenneth Volk, Orcutt Road Cellars, and Clesi. In 2014, I also served as the Cal Poly winemaker.

After graduating, I traveled to Argentina to work a harvest at Vina Cobos in Mendoza. Eventually, I returned to Calistoga, where my journey in winemaking first began. Since then, I have worked harvests at Jericho Canyon Vineyards, served as Cellar Lead at Clos Pegase, and have been the Assistant Winemaker at Red Car Wine for the past five years.

KALM represents the next step in my winemaking career, allowing me to craft my favorite wines and experiment with different varietals that inspire me.

Lindsey Strauss

Born and raised in the small town of Calistoga I have always been surrounded by the wine world, I just never knew I would be in it. I grew up on a five acre Cab vineyard and my parents had their own wine label. I never thought to make a career in wine and I went to nursing school and am currently a full time operating room nurse. When Kenny and I met and eventually got married we knew that we wanted to start our own wine label. I also figured out that I wanted to be involved in the wine industry, at least a little bit. KALM is our way to do that, and we can't wait to share our wine with you.

Montepulciano (Monte)

Named after the town of Montepuliano, Monte never asked to be a part of the wine world but he doesn't mind because he gets to run around the vineyards and chase bungs around the cellar. He doesn't have much of a taste for wine but he is always right there by my side no matter what I am doing that day.
